There's a new craze going on our site - people take pictures of celebrity partially covered with folded banknotes in the foreground. The mix looks surprisingly natural for some.

To continue our subject about "what we can do more with paper money and coins", we can say: banknotes are cheap and effective advertising area.
In times of financial crisis all people want to save money, including big companies such as Volkswagen AG. They had to announce that Volkswagen offers the perfect car: Volkswagen BlueMotion vehicles need little fuel for little money. How did they this? They just stamped a route on Euro banknotes. It showed how far you’ll drive with a BlueMotion for the Banknote’s value. 5,000 modified banknotes were put to circulation by daily money transfers of Volkswagen dealers and Volkswagen Service shops.

To visualize how far for how less you get they used the medium with the highest relevance for their target group: The Euro banknote itself. With a smart trick they turned it into a unique advertising space for free. With a little investment into stamps we got the attention of more than 50,000 people. After three weeks the click rate on www.bluemotion.de increased by 14%.

Sometimes the design of banknotes issued is changed by governments and new signs, inscriptions, holes, stamps are appeared on its. When new inscription is printed on the banknote it is called overprint. Overprints are widely used all over the world. For example, in 1985, after denomination Argentinian peso got new name - austral. Consequently a huge amount of banknotes issued in old units were put in circulation with overprints indicating new face value in austral and new name.

Moneygami is origami made from currency available in everyone’s purse. By itself, origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. The word, literally meaning to fold (oru) paper (kami), therefore correct name of this human art, judging by the translation of origami, should be called orimoney. The goal of this art is to create a representation of an object using geometric folds and crease patterns preferably without gluing or cutting the paper, and using only one piece of paper.

Thailand has and does enforce the national lese majeste laws. These laws expressly prohibit any act - verbal, physical or written, that shows insolent or disrespectful behavior toward any member of the Royal family. In same time, all currency in Thailand, paper and coin, bears a portrait of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej or a deceased relative. With this in mind, DO NOT EVER: step on a coin to stop it from rolling away. DO NOT step on a Thai banknote to stop it from blowing away. DO NOT throw a note or coin in anger towards another person. DO NOT tear, burn or otherwise deface a note or coin.

On this day, 18th May, we celebrate International Museum Day that is held each year since 1977. The event provides the opportunity for museum professionals to meet the public and alert them to the challenges that museums face if they are to be - as in the ICOM (International Council of Museums) definition of museums - "an institution in the service of society and of its development". Most of museums on this day are open with free admission hours.
