Estonia becomes 17th member of the euro zone

Estonia has become the 17th member of the eurozone - the first ex-Soviet state to adopt the EU single currency. The changeover from the kroon to the euro started at midnight 1st January 2011 in the small Baltic nation of 1.3m people.

Despite market pressure on the eurozone and the Greek and Irish bail-outs this year, polls suggested most Estonians wanted the euro. Prime Minister Andrus Ansip marked the event by withdrawing euros from a cashpoint: "It is a small step for the eurozone and a big step for Estonia," he said, holding the euro notes.

World’s Largest Collection of Santa Claus Memorabilia

Canadian Jean Guy Laquerre, a 74-year-old former geography teacher, is the proud owner of the World’s Largest Collection of Santa Claus Memorabilia.

Laquerre became addicted to Santa Claus memorabilia after his aunt gifted him with a beautiful 20th century papier-mache Santa Claus figure, over two decades ago. "It awakened the child in me" he says, but his fascination for Santa soon turned into an uncontrollable obsession. This "Santaphilia", as he calls it, started back in 1988, and in the next 22 years he managed to put together an impressive collection numbering 25,139 items.

Student discovers 50 pence piece dated 2011 in her change

It's a find that could earn a student a mint - a 50 pence piece with next year's date on. Sarah Legg was handed the coin in her change after paying for lunch at her college and noticed an unusual design.

The silver coin features one of 29 designs by members of the public created for the Royal Mint ahead of the 2012 Olympics.

Now the 17-year-old forensic science student hopes to sell it to coin collectors to help pay her university fees after she leaves Fareham College in Hampshire.

Coin bank

This coin bank is an attractive and unique replacement to the coin jar. Coins are dropped into the top and bounce chaotically off clear spacers on the way down. Coins can be released from the bottom when the custom lock is removed.

In spite of I don't think that this device will good for storing the entire coins collection, it can be truly captivating and even bring more coins from friends at house party...

SHEET of money

What is the significance of a SHEET of dollar bills? I have an uncirculated, uncut sheet of dollar bills, 16 in all.

The confusing thing is the bills all have the same serial number??? Has anyone ever seen this before?

My mother-in-law got them from her bank president (pers friend) as a gift. He told her hang onto them.
